- Default show name will be based on a directory one level further up if the episode folder begins with season/series (these trigger strings can be edited in the app config xml).
- If episode folder contains sub-directories user will be prompted whether to recurse. Episode ID parsing will try to use file name only, if that fails then it will try to use the info in the sub directories too for episode ID parsing.
- Settings dialog can now better handle not being able to read/write to the registry (should fix Vista/Win7 problems).
- All path name parsing, renaming and event raising is now cross platform safe.
- Fixed issue with unnecessarily reloading the contents of episodes directory.
- Fixed issue where episode downloading would happen in reverse order.
- Fixed some error handling in AutoUpdater.

Seems to be working fine here, show name recognition based on the upper directory is great. Thanks a lot for your effort
Been meaning to complement you on this fine programme for a while now…so my complement and keep up the good work. New versions usually make me happy, but would like to know if it’s possible to disable that recurse option, it’s annoying the hell out of me! Also, any change that the showname can also be based on (the first word(s) of) the filename next to the dir names? Cheers
Thanks for the feedback Thomas, an option to disable the recursive prompt will be available in the next version.
Love the program, however I have a small problem. I’ve downloaded some episodes named as such:
Castle.2009.S01E08.Ghosts.HDTV.XviD-2HD
Castle.2009.S01E09.HDTV.XviD-2HD
EpNamer reads these as Series 20, Ep 09 for every one. I was thinking that it would be good if it prioritized episode formats before 4 numbers.
Otherwise love the program.
Hi StormPooper,
A workaround for your problem is to set the show name field to “Castle 2009″, that will find your show and also strip the 2009 from the file name before trying to parse it’s ID.
Thanks.
hi, could you maybe implement a feature to scan multiple shows in subfolders, something like this:
C:\TV\Chuck
C:\TV\House
C:\TV\Weeds
So if i point EpNamer at C:\TV, i checks for episodes in the subfolders and fetches the info?
that would save a lot of work
thanks anyways!
Hello from BRAZIL! I download this program a few days and it’s AWESOME! I watch loads of episodes and always end up with a mess of files and folders on my hard disk. I always had to rename each video and subtitle by hand. It’s been this way for more than 3 years. In a matter of 30 minutes a rename all my actual episodes fresh from download and with spare time all my old series too, that’s about 2000 files easy. Congratulations and please kep up with the great work. Thank you VERY MUCH!!!!
Great update on the program, just wondering if its possible to enter more than 2 digits for the season number, its just that the TVDB.com have changed the seasons and are going by year now for the British Documentary “Horizon”.
So before an episode was 48×02 is now 2009×04 for example.
Is there any way around this?

Thanks for the post David. I hope TVDB.com don’t do that episode id format for more shows.
In the EpNamer directory you will find a file called EpNamer.exe.config. In that file there is a line…
you can change the value on the line below that to be 9999 instead of 99.
Let me know if that works for you.
Thanks, Kris.
Please advise how I can bypass a proxy to rename my files ?
Did that, opened with notepad and sorted it out. I think that program Horizon is one of the only ones they’ll work by year. I think the seasons were of varying lengths and all over the place and sorting by year seemed the best solution for the tvdb.com team.
Thanks for the help as well!
