- Huge speed improvements for TvDb.Com when renaming large number of files.
- TvDb.Com supports parsing based on airdate or absolute number.
- TvDb.Com supports new naming conventions based on airdate and absolute number.
- Settings dialog now allows easier building of naming convention format using drag and drop.
- New setting to make recursing directory always prompt, auto recurse or ignore sub directories.
- New settings added to allow specific naming conventions to be used for when parsing mode is set to airdate or absolute number.
- Fixed issue where show name field was taken from user entered show name instead of the server data, to use the user entered show name there is a new naming field.

- Requires .NET Framework 2.0 (get it here)
I’m expecting quite a few bugs in this version so please post any bugs/feedback.
when using thetvdb I get the following error:
“The type initializer for ‘z’ threw an exception.”
thanks, great program
same here, wont do anything now
Can people having this problem please see if opening the settings dialog and clicking OK resolves the issue?
Thanks
Still gives the error after opening the settings dialog and clicking ok.
It only happens on the install version, and above fix does not work
I overwrote the installed files with the executable only version and it works fine as kcdog suggested.
cheers, I downloaded the binary zip, overwrote the previous files and its working again
I had the same error, but copying the archive version over fixed it. I have one suggestion though – in the previous version it automatically ticked any matching files, whereas this one I have to click ’select all’. Minor niggle, but I thought I’d bring it up. Very useful tool, thanks!
i’ve updated the installer now.
pls let me know if the issue remains.
With the new installer, I got the same error. However, after I opened the settings dialog and hit OK, it worked fine.
Thanks for the amazingly useful and user-friendly tool, btw!
I got the same error still with the new installer, but it was fixed after I opened the settings dialog and hit OK. Kudos!
Thanks for the amazingly useful and user-friendly tool!
Any news on a new mac version? Can we have Volume access?
I’ll try to release a Mac version this weekend.
I have no idea how to fix the Volume browse problem, I’ll have a quick look, otherwise drag and drop will have to do for the time being.
I get the following error when trying to scrape the file names from tvrage & tvdb http://imgur.com/RTMlp.png
Could you post your naming convention?\AppData\Local\KrisG).
Try deleting your settings (delete folder C:\Users\
Did you use the installer or zip binaries?
What’s the show name and episode IDs being downloaded?
I get the same error as The Fonz with the installer version (as downloaded by the autoupdater approximately 30 minutes ago). Naming convention is “SSxEE – Title.ext”
Replacing the installed files with the binary package fixes it.
I took MD5s of the directory with the installer-sourced files and with the binary zip package. AutoUpdater.dll, AutoUpdateStarter.exe, and TvDbLibrary.dll all differ between the two packages. TvDbLibrary.dll is significantly different in size between the two packages as well (24Kb in the installer, 14.5Kb in the zip), so this is likely where the problem lives for those using the installer.
I’ve just downloaded the zip and installer from the website and used WinMerge to do a binary compare, AutoUpdater.dll and AutoUpdateStarter.exe do differ, but the rest are the same. TvDbLibrary.dll is 15kb in both for me.
I had 1.4.4 installed from the .msi package, then when the autoupdater notified me I let it download and install 1.4.5. This was approximately an hour before my last post. At this point the copy of TvDbLibrary.dll in my installed directory was 24Kb. Possibly something in the upgrade process did not work right?
I just fired up a VM loaded with a MD5 tool and did a test. To make sure I wouldn’t have to worry about UAC causing any issues, this VM was set up with Windows XP SP3.
If you start from 1.4.4 and upgrade to 1.4.5, there are three changes.
EpNamer.exe and EpNamer.exe.config change size and checksum, CSharpZipLib.dll is replaced by ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll.
None of the other files change, including the old 24Kb TvDbLibrary.dll from 1.4.4 which is left untouched.
If I then overwrite the installed files with those from the “executable only” zip package, there are again three changes.
This time AutoUpdater.dll, AutoUpdateStarter.exe, and most importantly TvDbLibrary.dll change from the versions left after upgrading a 1.4.4 to 1.4.5 using the MSI.
I then reverted the VM to a snapshot taken before initially installing 1.4.4, downloaded the 1.4.5 MSI installer, and checksummed the files again.
Comparing this version, the AutoUpdater.dll and AutoUndateStarter.exe are once again different, but all of the files important to EpNamer’s operation are identical.
From these results, my guess is that the installer script is not set up properly for the upgrade path. The installer does not seem to correctly overwrite TvDbLibrary.dll, thus causing the error for those of us who upgraded from 1.4.4 and possibly older versions.
I’ve saved the MD5s and file size/date info from all the steps and uploaded them here if anyone would like to verify my results: http://pastebin.com/fe2d3655
Let me also balance out the above bug report by saying I love the software, especially the new speed on TvDb. It works great and I can’t wait until Mono fixes the volume bug so I can use it on my Mac as well. Good job.
Thanks for the research Sean.
The problem is probably in the autoupdater.
I will try to fix the issue in the next version.
Great software, very useful and easy. Is there a way to make the program window and especially the browse window remember it’s position on the screen and whether it’s fullscreen or not? E.g. when I open the browse window (which remembers it’s size) and I made it bigger previously, its starts up in the lower right corner and the buttons are not accessible. I have to move and resize the window every time I open it. Running 1.45 under Win7 x64. Cheers.
