EpNamer is now a cross platform application!
With a few code changes and thanks to the excellent Mono Project, EpNamer can now be run on Linux and Mac OSX. I will only be distributing a Mac package, I’ll assume anyone running Linux is technical enough to figure out how to setup mono to run EpNamer.
The only real limitations in the Mac version is:
- the auto updater does not work as well as on Windows.
- the browse dialog only lets you browse your home directory, no mounted external drives or network volumes. Users will have to rely heavily on drag and drop to the main window for anything outside the home directory.

- Quick to download, easy to install
- Requires Mono Framework (get it here)
Please post any bugs/feedback.
Awesome program mate, thanks a bunch.
Any news on when volumes will be able to be browsed?
Cheers
The MAC OS X version is not even opening !
Dont forget the Mac community
Okay, so I installed mono framework (i’m running an intel based macbook pro-mid2009) I got both Mono 2.6 Framework for Intel and CSDK… whatever that means. I then reinstalled the epnamer like 3 times… but the application never pops up… just hangs. I’m forced to force quit. I used this app on windows for everything… loved it, then made the switch to mac. Maybe it’s how i’m installing it? If you have any tips or fixes, let me know.
I have the same problem as Alexandre and Vinny.
When starting EpNamer, the dock-icon shows, the temp goes up and then nothing.
I have mono 2.6 installed for Intel.
A Force Quit is needed to exit the app and get the computer back to it’s normal self.
Tell me what I can do to help you fix this, and I will.
Ok Guys, I’ve had a quick look and it seems the problem has been introduced in the new version of Mono 2.6.1.
I can confirm EpNamer works fine when running Mono version 2.4.2.3.
Older versions of Mono for OSX can be found here…
http://mono-project.com/OldReleases
I will try to found a workaround to make it work with the latest release of Mono, but for now people will have to use the old version.
UPDATE: This is a known issue in the latest Mono, we will have to just wait for them to release a version with a fix.
It seems the browse folder problems/restrictions are another Mono bug that has been logged here…
